Emir of Daura Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk says the unknown gunmen that attacked four banks and two police stations in Daura town a few weeks ago succeeded in the operation because there were no adequate security personnel in the town.
“The attackers came, surveyed Daura and noticed that there are no adequate police, soldiers and other security personnel in the community. So they came and attacked four banks and two police stations because they knew there were no security personnel and so nobody could repel their attack”, he said.
The emir, who spoke in Daura at the weekend when former Speaker of House of Representatives Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari cme to sympathize with him and people of Daura on the recent attack, called on the federal government to deploy more security personnel to the emirate.
He said the emirate spends no less than N2 million every month for prayers to ensure security of lives and properties as well as for peaceful coexistence. “I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that in the whole of Nigeria, it is only Daura emirate that spends that huge sum of money for prayers in ensuring security without necessarily waiting for government”, he said.
The emir also said “Daura has never been defeated in war and will never be because we are prayerful”.
Former Speaker of House of Representatives Aminu Bello Masari, who called for sustained prayers to address the current security challenges, urged residents to be vigilant and support government efforts in combating insecurity.
“Those, who attacked Daura, from what we heard, came fully prepared. The task of addressing insecurity is a job for all of us as we cannot leave that to government alone”, he said.
